2025 MUST Open Day (Department of General Education) Successfully Held

In celebration of the 25th-anniversary of Macau University of Science and Technology (MUST), the university successfully held its Open Day on February 23rd, 2025. The Department of General Education (DGE) organized a series of exhibitions and activities aimed at allowing students, parents, and the general public to gain a deeper understanding of the department and its curriculum, thereby enhancing awareness of DGE at MUST.

The activities were diverse, including information panel and video presentations, physical displays, demonstration experiences, and tea ceremony workshops. The information panel and video presentations introduced the background of the DGE, its core curriculums, and a wide range of cross-faculty elective courses, with a particular focus on brand-name courses such as Great Masters of Science and Technology Lecture Series, Innovative Cross-faculty Electives, Ambassadorial Lecture Series, Macao Society and Culture Lecture Series, Art Talks and the newest offering, the “AI MUST” course, and so on. These courses exemplify the department’s distinctive multi-cultural curriculum system, which is dedicated to achieving the goal of Holistic Education. While equipping students with professional knowledge and skills, the department also places a strong emphasis on the development of cultural literacy. Additionally, physical displays, including lecture recordings from the “Great Masters Series of Science and Technology” and various sports equipment, enhanced visitors’ understanding of the diverse curriculum. Classroom demonstration experiences and interactive workshops attracted numerous participants, enlivening the entire event.

The main visitors on the day were from mainland China, and students from local high schools and universities. Through guided tours by staff members, visitors were able to learn about the Department of General Education and its diverse, high-level, and innovative curriculum. Overall, the event successfully promoted and showcased the unique characteristics and educational goals of the university's general education curriculum. Judging from the visitors' participation and feedback, the day's activities effectively demonstrated the university's commitment to the fundamental teaching philosophy of " Integrating professional and general education."
