The Department of General Education Teacher Orientation for 2024/2025 Academic Year

The Department of General Education at M.U.S.T. held a welcoming meeting for new teachers on August 30th, 2024 at 3:00 pm in Room O205. Three new faculty members joined the department family: Marffy Geza, LAN Xiao Ran, and FONG Kin Wong.

At the beginning of the meeting, Vice President Chair Professor Paul TAM Kwong Hang delivered a speech. He highly appreciated the important role of general education in the overall education system of the university, and hoped that every teacher would uphold the internationalization concept of M.U.S.T., continuously promote the deepening and reform of teaching work, actively guide and cultivate every student, and prepare them for their professional education and future development. To facilitate mutual understanding, each teacher introduced his/her professional background and teaching subjects in detail.

Then, Head of Academic Affairs Office and Officer of the Academic Office of the Department of General Education Ms. Amy CHU, introduced the department history, development process, course setting, department vision, and basic situation of the department. Meanwhile, the administrative departments of the department respectively introduced key contents such as daily work of teachers, teaching knowledge for teachers, and application of relevant office software to teachers, laying a solid foundation for their new semester teaching work.

During the third part of the meeting, trial lectures were presented by newly appointed teachers LAN Xiao Ran, and FONG Kin Wong. Both teachers showed the course design, teaching methods, and teaching goals they taught from their respective professional fields. After the trial lectures, many teachers gave constructive advice to the new teachers based on their own teaching experience and insights, which helped the new teachers adapt to the teaching environment better.

The final part of the meeting was interactions and Q&A sessions, where questions and concerns raised by new teachers in their work and life were addressed. The meeting ended in enthusiastic discussion and exchange among attendees.
