Faculty Orientation of Department of General Education of MUST successfully held

On August 29, 2025, the Department of General Education (DGE) at Macau University of Science and Technology (MUST) successfully held a Faculty Orientation at the O205 conference room. The purpose of the meeting was to welcome new faculty members, strengthen communication and collaboration among the faculty, and collectively advance the development of DGE.

The orientation began with a welcome speech by Chair Prof. Paul Kwong-Hang Tam, Vice President of MUST. Vice President Tam highlighted the internationalization process at MUST, emphasizing the mission and goals in diversifying the curriculum and leveraging artificial intelligence (AI) technology to enhance teaching innovation. He specifically noted that, with the rapid advancement of AI technology, teachers should actively explore ways to integrate AI tools into the teaching process to improve students' learning experiences. This primarily involves using AI for personalized learning analysis, which helps teachers better understand students' needs and adjust their teaching strategies accordingly, with a focus on fostering the development of core competencies such as critical thinking and innovation.

Subsequently, Amy Chu, Officer of DGE, presented an overview of the department's continuous growth and outlined plans to further optimize the existing curriculum system for the new academic year. She also introduced the new faculty members and expressed her hope that their addition would bring fresh vitality and creativity to DGE.

At the same time, the newly joined teacher Siying Huang delivered a trial lecture titled "Sports and Health: An Introduction to Humanistic Sports and Exercise Health." During her presentation, Ms. Huang shared her extensive teaching experience and elucidated the concept of humanistic sports, demonstrating how to enhance physical and mental well-being through scientifically grounded exercise methods in a clear and engaging manner. Her lively and captivating explanation sparked enthusiastic discussions among the attending faculty members

Finally, during the exchange session, some experienced teachers shared their valuable insights and guidance for the new teachers. They also addressed questions that new faculty may encounter in their professional and personal lives, thereby enhancing their sense of belonging to the university. The meeting concluded with lively discussions and exchanges. This orientation not only served as an effective communication platform for new teachers, but also further strengthened the team spirit within the department, laying a solid foundation for future teaching endeavors.
