On April 21st, 2026, the final round of the Pre-U English Role-Play Competition organized by the Department of General Education (DGE) at Macau University of Science and Technology (MUST) was successfully held at the N101 Hall, Block N. The competition aimed to further enhance students' English expression abilities and stage performance skills, showcasing the students' language talents and creative flair through vivid character portrayals.
Distinguished guests attending the final included: Vice President Chair Professor Paul TAM Kwong Hang, Head of Academic Affairs Office and Officer of the Academic Office of the Department of General Education Ms. Amy CHU Oi Mei, Coordinator of the General Education English Promgramme Assistant Professor Lei Kai Cheong, Coordinator of Pre-university Programme Assistant Professor QI Juan Juan, and English teachers for Pre-university students Lecturer ZHOU Li Juan, Lecturer LI Bao Lin, Lecturer YU Zhuo Yin, and Dr. YAO Kai Xin as well as Assistant Administrative Officer Mr. Ray HO.

Vice President Paul TAM Kwong Hang delivered an opening speech
Before the competition began, Vice President Tam delivered opening speech on behalf of the University. He extended a warm welcome to all students who actively participated in the competition, while expressing his gratitude to all the hardworking organizing teachers, faculty and staff, and student volunteers. Vice President Tam encouraged students to be bold in speaking English, unafraid of making mistakes, and to step out of their comfort zones, making good use of Macao's international environment to enhance their practical application skills. Finally, he wished the competition every success and also encouraged the students to study diligently and build a solid foundation during the preparatory year, so that they may smoothly progress to undergraduate studies in a year's time and embark on a new chapter of learning.
The final round featured seven participating teams competing on stage. With exquisite acting skills and fluent English, all participants delivered a spectacular audio-visual feast for the audience.

The atmosphere at the competition was vibrant and enthusiastic. All teams devoted themselves wholeheartedly to their performances, demonstrating contemporary university students' English application abilities and teamwork spirit through vivid body language and infectious dialogue delivery. The adjudicator teachers conducted professional scoring from multiple dimensions including language accuracy, performance appeal, and creative presentation.

Special Performance
Certificates were also presented on-site to the students who won the Excellent Awards in the preliminary round. Additionally, students XU Jiazichen, YUAN Tingxuan, GAO Shuohan, WANG Jiayue, LIU Anqi and XU Zhumeng brought a special performance of We Are the World, adding highlights to the competition.
The Pre-U English Role-Play Competition is a distinctive practical activity organized by the Department of General Education for the pre-university students.
